A new data center project in Red Deer aims to serve artificial intelligence companies with on-site power generation and infrastructure, with construction expected to be completed by year's end. The facility is being built north of Red Deer on a 119-acre campus.
The development will feature waterless power generation designed for heavy power users, with the initial phase focusing on AI infrastructure. Project leaders envision the center attracting companies in technology, artificial intelligence, and agriculture sectors seeking reliable and cost-effective facilities.
Sunny Sarpal, associated with the project, expressed enthusiasm about the infrastructure: "on a global presence, this is going to stand out...we can actually not only solve the infrastructure problem from power generation, and AI infrastructure, but do it sustainably and economically."
The initial construction and infrastructure investment is valued at approximately $100 million. The project arrives as the town of Olds recently announced its own data center initiative.
