Havenz secures land at Blindman Industrial Park, Red Deer County

Havenz Smart Communities has secured land inside Blindman Industrial Park, an established heavy- and medium-industrial park in Red Deer County on Highway 2A — three kilometres from the QEII and at the midpoint of the Calgary–Edmonton corridor. The lands form the foundation of what will become AHI, the AI Hub of Innovation.

The choice was deliberate. Blindman is an industrial subdivision in a heavy-industrial corridor that needed an anchor — not farmland that needed converting. The site sits inside BSI heavy-industrial zoning, among yards, shops and energy-services businesses, with the City of Red Deer to the south and the Town of Blackfalds to the north.

The fundamentals that made Alberta the right province were already in place: continent-scale gas from the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, a deregulated power market that suits behind-the-fence generation, a 52.3°N climate that gives free cooling for most of the year, and a stable, pro-development Canadian jurisdiction.

Securing the land begins a five-year planning discipline: integrated master planning, environmental reviews and global research into best practice, ahead of any construction.
