Alberta’s approach to AI data centres, in plain language

Alberta has set out its approach to AI data centres in its AI Data Centres Strategy and through the province’s own public resources, including the Alberta Data Centre Concierge program. The questions the province is answering — power, water, land use and jobs — are the same ones our neighbours in Red Deer County ask.

Power: AHI generates its own power behind the fence, with a grid interconnection pathway designed to add supply to Alberta’s system over time. Water: zero municipal water — a sealed closed loop. Land: an established heavy-industrial park, not farmland. Jobs: Alberta trades and firms hired first, and an operations team that grows with every hall.
