Independent sound assessment complete — designed to Alberta’s sound standard

RWDI, the independent APEGA-permitted acoustical engineers behind AHI’s sound commitments, has completed the full-build noise mitigation strategy for the campus. The modelling, which considers the long-term buildout operating at once, predicts compliance with Alberta Utilities Commission Rule 012 permissible sound levels — day and night.

The as-built design goes further than the modelled design: precast concrete buildings with sound walls, acoustical silencers on intakes and exhausts, screened rooftop equipment and liquid cooling with pumps rather than fan walls.

Sound compliance was a condition of Red Deer County’s approval and has been engineered in since day one. The acoustic program is led on AHI’s side with the independent engineers and coordinated by the development manager, M3 Development Management Inc..

AHI’s commitment does not end with a model. Independent studies continue through every phase, and real-world sound is measured as each phase comes online, with the design adapted before growing further.
